Presents for Indian new parents

Couples in India are skeptical about having a kid because of the work pressure. Still, we are hoping that the ones we know, would have a kid sometimes soon. We have a lot of idea on what to offer them.

Here is a first list on what we like from Europe and would like to bring to Indian new parents.

Maternity pillow

Most of the nursing you will find online are small, but when you type “Pregnancy Pillow” you’ll find much bigger ones and those are much better. Why? Simple because you can use them longer and for more purposes, from Pregnancy to toddler.

  • It can be used to help you sleep with a big tummy
  • Can provide support to your back when sitting on the bed
  • Help you having a better position to breastfeed
  • Can be used as a gate when your child stays on the bed
  • Can be a back support to your baby to learn to sit
  • Your child can use it to learn to climb and to crawl

Baby Carrier

In regular shops and on Amazon you can find plenty of cheap baby carrier. In Europe we have strong ones with a hoodie to cover to baby’s head from the sun and to provide better head support when sleeping.

Obviously, we were looking for something similar in India to replace ours. Then we discovered Kol Kol, the only baby carrier that offers everything we were looking for.

Wooden toys

While looking for a birthday gift we also got to know about Shumee, an Indian company which offers eco-friendly baby and kid toys. Most of them are made of wood, and certainly there you won’t find anything plastic.

Soft book

Soft books are great to touch and to create bonding with your baby. Choose something simple, with something nice to touch. It doesn’t have to be a story, it doesn’t have to be extremely colorful, stay simple. This Bumble bee book from Amazon is a great example of a good soft book.

Organic products

Your baby’s body is very important to you, and our planet is very important to all of us. The Moms Co offers products that are both gentle to baby skin and help mother earth.

Teething necklace

Those necklaces are apparently not that famous in Indian stores. This brand, Itybity does offer delivery to India. I like them because our child can wear them during the day and play with it, biting and soothing his teething pain. Those also feel great to touch.

Ear thermometer

This was quite hard to find in India but if you keep on looking you can find it in physical pharmacies. If not, you can easier find it online. Ear thermometer are better than forehead because they are more accurate, and you don’t want to miss a degree when it comes to your baby’s health.

Sleeping bag

This is also not common in India but it is possible to find it in physical stores. This one is from Craftlinen. They actually offers a lot more of durable baby produtcs. When you look for one, pay attention that it closes at the shoulder and open at the bottom. You will need to change your baby’s diapers few times a night and you want to keep him warm.

Activity book

An activity book can be similar to a soft book. The difference is that inside you find things to do and to explore. The format can also be different : in a paper book or a wooden board. It is great to keep your child busy and quiet. Here is a soft one from PatPat, an American company that you can find on Amazon India.

Buggy backpack

Even if you don’t have a buggy (and anyway it would be useless in India), you can get a buggy backpack. When having your baby in the front carrier, you can still carry the backpack with everything you need.

  • It has great storage space
  • Organised space with many pockets
  • Thermos compartiments to keep your bottles fresh
  • Usually include a changing mat
  • Small pockets for your personal belongings

And if you want a buggy, you can fix it there. R for Rabbit is another brand that sells good baby products.

Food processor

Your baby will start eating solid soon, but before that, he eats puree. Best is to have a small food processor that does both steaming and grinder. Baybee offers this and other useful products for your baby first steps.

Baby bed with zipper and mattress

Indeed we can find Baybee here once again. Their beds are good because they have a zipper ! So you can teach your baby to be more independent from very early. Also, they don’t come with a good mattress so it is good to buy an extra one. It is more comfortable and waterproof when made of foam, like this one from Kuber Industries.

Wooden puzzle

You can find such toys at Shumee as well, they are great to touch and to learn !

Sock on

We receive many pairs of socks from India, but people forget that the baby kicks, crawl, and keep on losing them. Here is an easy solution to it with Sock Onshttps://sockons.com/. We got some ourselves and we love it.

Books

I am always very happy with the freely touchy-feely books collection of Usborne. My kids also love them ! They can play with it and enjoy the different feelings.

Soft Toys

Softs toys are great for babies, much better than plastic. They are nice to touch, natural and they look fun. Those ones also make sounds which can give your baby a great time.
