I never really took the time to blog about my new mum’s life. It has been 10 months and a lot, lot happened. I learnt a lot, obviously, from blogs, social media and direct connection. So here I am going to share with you the tips and tricks I kept to raise my baby boy.
First of all, with my now-to-be-husband, we agreed on not following the American method: no crying out, no park, no buggy, no crib. It nearly worked.
First of all, I am going to talk to you about how we handled the nights.
When baby cries, we were always there to cheer him up. Both of us were with him. We were trying bouncing (especially during winter time) or night walking in the neighborhood with a carry on. Today, when he is loudly screams and gets crazy, we mostly just pick him up, provide him comfort and put him back in. We eventually understood that one of us must remain in bed to be able to handle the next day. When was of us was feeling extremely tired, we even slept in the guest’s room.
Yes, there were time when he would cry as soon as we put him down. There were time when we just gave up and had him sleeping between us, and kicking my husband out of the bed. We all learnt to adapt ourselves and now he sleeps just fine in his own bed, which is right next to ours. It ask patience, lot of struggling nights. When I see my baby looking at me with that tiny smile in the middle of the night, there is nothing I can do about than feeling happy and accomplished.
At the really beginning, up to 2 or 3 months old, baby boy was mostly sleeping between my husband and me. Then, he took a lot of weight and grew up fast so we decided to put him in a mose basket. He did not like it. Eventually, he managed to sleep in it, for a month or two, before becoming too big for that too. So we switched for a kid’s bed, which is like a single bed, lower. We simply added a gate on it as he started rolling on the mattress. Then, he started to bang his head against the wall. We took a thick blanket and nailed it on the wall. On the gate side, it was not a problem as it is simply a net.
